No Double Posting or Necrobumping

Try to avoid double posting in threads, we have all been in the situation where you post a reply and then want to add more to it, that is why the EDIT button exists. Ordinarily double-posts will merge themselves automatically but sometimes (for example when we are dealing with database errors) then it won’t. If this happens just let members of the staff know and we will deal with it.

If you wish to bump a thread for more responses but you were the last person to post, then you can delete your post and repost it with additions. This will bump the thread back up again without resorting to double posting, though we ask that you don’t abuse this. (Bumping in this way is usually most relevant in Creativity and Art). Necrobumping however, will not be tolerated. Reviving long dead threads will result in a lock; repeat behaviour may result in a warning.

Related to this, please don’t make duplicate threads. We ask that you use the search function before making a new thread. If you do make a duplicate then send the links to a staff member and we will merge them (or delete where applicable). If the existing thread is ancient and long dead, link to it in your opening post, this makes our job easier.

No Spam

Spam is not welcome on this site except for in the spam zone. Generally speaking, spam is a post that is off topic, doesn’t contribute to the thread and is only there for the post count. We do ask for you to put thought into your posts but we do understand it can be hard writing essays all the time.

If a thread starts to head in a direction away from its original topic then please make a new thread to avoid derailment.

Spam posts will be deleted without warning, if you continue to spam then further action will be taken.

No Flaming and Harassment

Flaming will not be tolerated. Arguing your case and your point of view is one thing, resorting to insults and being personal is another matter entirely. If you feel you are being flamed, or you see someone else being flamed message a member of staff. DO NOT ADD TO THE FIGHT. Flaming may well result in a temp ban in severe cases.

If you are being flamed or harassed by PM then screenshot the PM. Forward the message along with the screen shot to a staff member. We ask for a screen shot so that nobody can be accused of editing. The same applies to sexual harassment and other bullying.

If the events are occurring on MSN then it is (except in the most severe cases) out of our control, if you are being flamed on MSN by a member then we ask you to block that contact from talking to you on there. Make the staff aware that there was a problem but please note we can’t force rules on instant messenger services. In those circumstances you would be better off making a complaint to the staff of the service.

Watch Your Content

Whilst we acknowledge the fact that we have a lot of older members, we do ask you to keep in mind that we do also have a lot of younger members.

Please avoid making your posts overly sexual, this includes avoiding the use of overly graphic images and text. When RPing we ask you to keep it strictly to kissing and cuddling; beyond that will not be tolerated. This rule applies to ALL sections. If your post is overly perverted or obscene it will be removed and warnings will be issued. In the most extreme cases a ban will be given. Keep what needs to be covered covered.

Avoid comments that are seen as attacking others of ethnic groups, religions, lack of religion, sexual orientations, gender. If the comment is too offensive, you may be warned.

Swearing is tolerated to a certain amount but we ask that you do not go overboard. Using swears to flame or insult people however will not be tolerated. If the staff think you have gone too far you will have your post edited and be given a verbal warning. Keep it up and you will receive and official one. Moderation is key.

Keep violence and gore to a minimum. In the same we ask you to keep check on your sexual content, we ask you to do the same with violent posts. This means no excessive violence; keep the flying body parts to a minimum. This also goes for images that you use. Images that are deemed too gory and too violent will be removed and in extreme cases further action will be taken.

We also ask that you do not discuss illegal activity such as downloading and avoid advertising. If you do either of this it will result in a thread lock and potential warnings. Continuous ignorance of this will result in further action. Advertising may result in a ban. This is the same for PM too. Do not send advertisements via PM. If you wish to advertise your site (or whatever it is you are trying to advertise) then you may post it in your signature but that is all.

Let the staff do their job

Don’t backseat mod, if you feel a thread is getting out of control then contact a member of the staff team. Do not try to fix it yourself as this may result in further flaming/arguments and can make the problem worse. We do encourage members to try to keep the forum clean, but do not be a part of the problem in the process. We encourage you to use the Report button if nothing else.

General Comments
These aren’t necessarily rules, but we do ask you to pay attention to these too. If you are discussing plots for movies/games/books etc then please make use of the spoiler tags. To use this all you need to do is:

We also ask that you type so that you can be understood, this means please remember that grammar and punctuation exist. We are aware that not every member has the same standard of English as everyone else, but please at least make the effort to be understood.
